129 York County volunteers were serving as advocates for 387 abused or neglected children as of December 31, 2008.

"Michael and Sara" are part of the Forgotten Children: Children who have been abused or neglected and are now living in foster care. In South Carolina, over 5000 children are living in foster care at any given time.
These children need volunteer advocates who will stand up for them, so that they can be seen and heard. The York County Volunteer GAL Program trains citizens to be positive, effective advocates for children, so that they will not be forgotten. If you have 4-6 hours per month to give to a child, you could be that person who makes a difference.
